2.     Practice and write exercises using sheets covering all the topics shown below.
3.     Study and learn by heart regular and irregular verbs, and how to form the simple past tense.


Uses of “TO BE”
·         I AM
·         You/We/ They ARE
·         He / She / It IS

Example:
AFF. I am a vet / I am in the lake   
NEG. I am not vet / I am not in the lake
QUE. Are you -  Am I  a vet / Are you – Am I in the lake?
 

            AFF. He / She / It is a musician
            NEG. He / She / It isn´t a musician

Example:

PREPOSITIONS



SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
To express habits, general truths, repeated actions or unchanging situations, emotions and wishes:

AFFIRMATIVE

·         I study at school. / She cleans  the window. (habit)
·         You work in London / He practices tennis.(activity)
·         London has a rich history / They write letters. (general truth)
 


NEGATIVE

·         I don´t study at school / She doesn´t clean the window.
·          You don´t work in London  / He doesn´t practice tennis.
·         London doesn´t have a rich history / They don´t write letters.




QUESTION

·         Do you / Do I study at school?  / Does she clean the window?
·         Do you work in London?  /  Does he practice tennis?
·         Does London have a rich history?  /  Do they write letters?




PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
To talk about activities happening now, actions in progress.

AFFIRMATIVE
·         They / We / You are doing homework.
·         He / She / It is thinking of her.
·         I am running in the yard.

NEGATIVE
·         They / We / You aren´t doing homework.
·         He / She / It isn´t thinking of her.
·         I am not running in the yard.

QUESTION
·         Are they / we / you doing homework?
·         Is  He / She / It thinking of her?
·         Are you – Am I running in the yard?

SIMPLE PAST TENSE
NOTE: The students have to learn verbs and rules to form simple past tense of REGULAR and IRREGULAR VERBS.


AFFIRMATIVE
REGULAR VERBS (add ED in verbs)


IRREGULAR VERBS  (the verbs have their own form in simple past)



NEGATIVE
Ø For Negative “regular and irregular verbs” have the same base form in present.
Ø We use the auxiliary DIDN´T  for all nouns. I-You-We-They-He-She-It.

Example.
·         I didn´t want  to learn a new language.
·         They didn´t go to the store.
·         He didn´t study math.
·         She didn´t see how the stars move.

QUESTION
Ø For Question “regular and irregular verbs” have the same base form in present.

PAST CONTINUOUS

To indicate that a longer action had an interruption in the past. Actions that were happening.








AFFIRMATIVE

·         I was making an offer.
·         She was training golf with me.
·         We were doing something special.
·         You were watching  tv series.


NEGATIVE

·         I wasn´t  making an offer.
·         She wasn´t training golf with me.
·         We weren´t doing something special.
·         You weren´t watching tv series.

QUESTION

  • Was I / Were you making an offer?
  • Was she training golf with me?
  • Were we doing something special?
  • Was he walking alone yesterday?

LIKES – DISLIKES
LIKES
·         I like to visit my old town.
·         She likes to discover America every year.
·         He likes to sleep at 8 o´clock.
·         They like to read  my new book of medicine.

·         I like visiting my old town.
·         She likes discovering America every year.
·         He likes sleeping at 8 o´clock.
·         They like reading my new book of medicine.

DISLIKES
·         I don´t like to visit  my old town.
·         She doesn´t like to discover America every year.
·         He doesn´t like to read  cartoons.
·         We don´t like sleeping  under this bed.
·         I don´t like changing my clothes.


SHOULD / SHOULDN´T

·         She should walk five minutes to see me.
·         We should enjoy our trip.
·         The plant should grow in this soil.
·         I should sell  my old cellphone.


·         She shouldn´t walk on the Street.
·         I shouldn´t write strange poems to her.
·         He shouldn´t analyze my career today.
·         You shouldn´t describe what do you do.
